| Offshore LQ protected with Mech-Tool's fire and blastwalls |
July 2010 Mech-Tool Engineering Ltd has successfully completed the design, engineering, manufacture and supply of 5000m2 of stainless steel external fire wall cladding for a new living quarters platform for BP Norge AS, this is part of the Valhall Oil Field Re-development. The £4 million contract included the supply of doors. Mech-Tool’s fully certified range of firewalls, blastwalls, heatshields, blast relief systems and fire and blast rated doors have been an integral feature of fixed and floating offshore platforms for more than 35 years. Design engineering on the Valhall project was carried out at Mech-Tool’s research and development offices in Whessoe Road, Darlington. The cladding was manufactured at Mech-Tool’s factory in the Albert Hill area of Darlington. The cladding was delivered to Lowestoft by road. The cladding was manufactured in 4m x 2.5m stainless steel panels typically A60 and H60-rated. This will provide at least 60 minutes of fire protection in the event of an evacuation. Other recent projects included the design, engineering and supply of 1950m2 of windwalls and 1450m2 of heatshields. |
