Mech-Tool is pleased to announce the £3m project award for the design, engineering, procurement, prefabrication, painting and assembly of the upper Living Quarters structure on the Sea Dragon Oban B semi submersible drilling rig.

Mech-Tool’s scope of work is to design, procure and prefabricate the modules at their Darlington facility thereafter painting and final assembly of the forty one modular units shall take place at their Dawson's Wharf facility. When fully assembled and erected these units will comprise the upper three levels including the wheelhouse of the drilling rig accommodation.

This project will provide Mech-Tool the opportunity of sustaining and developing their capacity for larger projects in the oil & gas market and comes at a time when Mech-Tool were naturally looking to extend their market penetration bringing much needed work to the area.

Mech-Tool has recently undertaken a significant recruitment campaign to ensure the company infrastructure and skill sets are available thus securing a successful future for all our employees and their dependants.

Intrinsic to the success of this venture is the planning and management of the interfaces and dependencies of associated build requirements and disciplines, namely electrical, architectural and services all of which are being provided by Mech-Tool's client McGills.
